Just Water – The Hijra House Just Water Initiative recognizes and values water as the key, single-most important resource for the sustainability of all life. The Just Water Initiative prioritizes and supports the right to clean water as a US led and UN recognized Human Right.
Viewed internally as the most urgent undertaking of all of Hijra House’s work, the Just Water Initiative addresses three distinct water issues affecting the Coast and region: access to clean, affordable drinking water; Coastal erosion and sea-level rise; and the impacts of the changing climate and water quality on the sustainability of Coastal fisheries.
The Just Water Initiative also supports Off-Bottom Oyster Aquaculture (OBOA) as a modern means of livelihood, living wages, and cooperation for all Coastal residents.
